Mr. Steven C. Shorley entered the accounting profession in 1977 when he graduated from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, MO and going on to receive the credential of Certified Public Accountant soon after.  His career exploded in 1982 when he joined a small, local firm named St. John and Mersmann eventually working his way up to partner.  Over time, the firm expanded and evolved into St. John, Mersmann, and Co., P.C.  Under Steve’s leadership and strong work ethic the company grew to be one of the top 25 largest accounting firms in the St. Louis area.  In 1997, the company merged with a larger firm, LarsonAllen, now CliftonLarsonAllen (CLA).  One of the principal accountants of the tax division, Steve’s impact was immediate and recognized throughout the company.  Eventually he parted ways with the company to care for his family as they struggled through some medical and personal difficulties.

As quickly as he could, Steve returned to the profession and, in 2005, Steve’s son, Andy, joined him as a tax preparer at a small firm in Ballwin, MO.  Over time, Andy worked not only as a tax preparer, but helped to complete an income forecast project for a client as well as bookkeeping duties for multiple small business clients.  As the years progressed, Steve’s daughter, Michelle, and niece, Anna, would also join him in the accounting world as a bookkeeper and Enrolled Agent, respectively.

Eventually, Shorley’s Tax Accounting and Management Professionals LLC (STAMP LLC) was established by Steven C. Shorley later in his career as a way to provide a legacy that both his immediate family and extended family could carry forward.   With this same intention, we are carrying his traditions of hard work, integrity, technical superiority, and excellence into our Accounting and Management Division.
